It should be no surprise that the Road Trip is the preferred way of travel here at Acre Industries. Between Matt and myself, we logged thousands of miles on the road in 2024.
I personally hate flying - it’s chaotic, rushed, and generally unenjoyable. I’m good without the airport Chili’s To-Go, Shake Shack or Starbucks. However, I’m aware that I’m firmly in the minority on this. Paul Skallas pointed out a few reasons why flying has become ubiquitous - it’s the modern day third place. There’s no better place for our rabid consumerism.
It’s insulting, personally. Everything we could want in one homogeneous place, which, again personally, I hate. The sense of discovery has nearly vanished in many elements of life - we’re constantly connected, we get to choose our music all the time, we can buy whatever we want with the click of our finger. Enter: The Road Trip.
