Steel Wool Magazine 01 is comprised of images taken during a series of road trips (all this year) covering over 20,000 miles between New York and Montana. The magazine gets its name from the contrasting, yet kindred spirit and visual beauty of the two states and the space in between. STEEL VS WOOL, or steel-wool.
Below are a handful of scans from the magazine, their location, and a bit about the goings on. Pop in to Acre and snag one, or hit my site www.cowgirletcetera.com
(Cover) Muddy jeans. During the wet season in Montana it’s nearly impossible to exit a truck (or any higher-off-the-ground vehicle) without catching grey mud to the back of your pant leg.
(Left) Glacier National Park (Right) My favorite hat. Photographed in Bigfork, MT during a big day shooting photos for Cowgirl’s FW24 collection.
Motor in my parents yard. Lakeside, MT. She loves Montana. Here she is retrieving her ball from toss number five million. She could play that game all day.
(Left) Lakeside Montana lake access. The best town ever. Whens the last time you hit a family owned grocery store? Ice Cream: $11.99 (Right) Au contraire, Ron’s Ice Cream was hitting for a light $2.50. Somewhere in Upstate New York.
(Left) Highway pull-off near Bozeman. Nothing beats driving from Livingston to Whitefish. Or, for those less Montana-versed, the center to the top left corner. Bozeman, Missoula, etc! (Right) Josh’s truck. You get the idea.
(Back Cover) My hand tattooed with my dog’s name. She loves the road. There’s a lot more photos in this magazine, but I couldn’t stand in Fedex all day. Take to the road for a chance to slow down and be (stuck) with your thoughts. Get a flat. Call Triple A. Step away from the 5 hour cross country reel-fueled convenience of flying to see the world in a new light. You’ll thank me!
Thanks,
Matthew Raymond / Cowgirl
